One-on-One Resident Interaction
Some of our residents prefer not to engage in group activities, but still like to socialize. Build personal relationships individually by interacting one-on-one with residents by playing games, music, or holding conversation.
Assist with Arts
& Crafts
If you’re the creative type, this is the activity for you! Through our residents can be independent, they sometimes need help during the activity, especially during setup and clean up. If you have a fun idea, we’re always open to new ways of bringing out their inner artists.
Engaging residents in our community outside the walls of the facility is a wonderful opportunity, but it takes work! On these outings, we need volunteers to assist our residents by pushing wheelchairs and attending to resident needs.
Our residents love playing games! Whether you’d like to call bingo or deal cards, interaction through game activities can be a whole lot of fun. You’ll need to encourage residents to play, explain rules and regulations, and assist residents throughout the game.
Assist with Birthday Parties
Every resident is recognized when their birthday rolls around, and every month we through a big party in their honor! As a volunteer you would help us celebrate by passing out refreshments and interacting with residents.
Decorate for
the Holidays
Help us get into the spirit of the holidays by putting up (or talking down) decorations! Every day is unique for our residents, and seasonal decorations are a way of making the holidays special.
We offer different activities for both men and women at our facilities. Whether it’s discussing events over coffee or making crafts, joining these groups is a great way to encourage socialization… and you might hear a good joke or two!
Just like at home, our residents receive mail from their friends and family. Come rain or shine, sleet or snow, the mail must be delivered! Volunteering to pass mail is a great way to meet residents and interact in a one-on-one setting.
Engage residents by reading short stories, poems, or any interesting material in a group or one-on-one setting.
Residents love meeting your furry friends! We would love for you to bring your pet, but keep in mind that we require vet records before they are allowed into the building. We ask that you have a good understanding of your pet’s temperament. Do not bring in a pet that has ever shown any sign of aggression.
If you have a green thumb, this is the perfect opportunity for you! Working in a garden can be very therapeutic for our residents. However, due to their limitations, gardens may need a little extra help. You can assist in planting, watering, weeding, and/or harvesting.
Like most, our residents take pleasure in being well groomed. Help our residents feel beautiful by polishing nails in a group or one-on-one setting.
Sometimes giving someone a letter or card in the mail is all that’s needed to bring a smile to our residents’ faces.
Skilled artists needed! Guide our residents in a step by step tutorial of how to paint a picture.
Please communicate supply needs prior to activity.
