Meet with a group of residents and lead a time of prayer by talking about prayer needs, encouraging residents to pray, and leading prayers out loud.
Prepare and lead a discussion based Bible study group with residents. This group would meet regularly on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.
Your musical talent is needed! Planning the music for worship services, playing guitar or piano, singing leadership, and getting the residents involved are the skills we are looking for! Can be done by an individual or a group.
Some residents don’t prefer large gatherings, but they do enjoy talking one on one. This is an opportunity to get to know individuals on a personal and spiritual level. Requirement: Basic training in this type of ministry will be provided by the chaplain before the volunteer begins meeting with residents.
Residents love to give and receive cards and letters! This is an opportunity to help residents write to loved ones, or put a smile on a fellow resident’s face that is in need of some extra attention.
We always need help preparing for Holidays and Special Religious events. This would be ideal for someone that is organized and likes to work with a team. Decorating, meal or refreshment preparation, meal service, and many other ways to help are available.
Some residents enjoy worshiping through art. We need artists who can share a lesson and/or demonstration of using painting, sculpture, pottery, quilting, and other art forms as a way to express worship.
Help touch the lives of those who need special comfort and care to relieve pain and stress. Learn how specialty aromas, beverages, music, and other means of comfort can make all the difference for those in need.
We really enjoy partnering with local churches, ministries, and seminaries to help their students get hands on experience in ministry. This may also help to meet required hours of practical ministry for academic assignments.
Do you love to pray? Prayer walking is one way to actively pray for people as you walk within our facilities. Training in this exercise of intercession will be provided by our chaplain.
We are always in need of Ministers and Lay Leaders that would like to provide church services at our buildings for our residents. Our residents look forward to weekly sermons, hymn singing, communion services, and other ministries from our area churches, temples, and places of worship. Approval and scheduling through the chaplain’s office required.
